Rughetta - The Summer Green
Rome - Rucola or rughetta in Roman, arugula in Italian, rocket in English. Call it what you will, but this IS one of the summer staples. If it's wild and fresh, it's peppery enough to sting the tip of your tongue.
Make a salad with it, ask for it on your pizza, serve it with tomatoes on bruschetta, or cooked with thinly sliced beef as Straccetti (little rags).
Just be sure to have your fill, once the temparatures drop there won't be anymore till spring. Sniff..sniff.
