Urban Trekking is very popular in Trento. A barn-like structure with a hand painted sign “Museo Marco” sounds like a place for farm machinery. Yet descending down the steps, a visitor reaches a cantina with many rooms. There, surprisingly, displayed on the walls, sitting on the floor, and hanging from the ceiling, are tools of every kind, over 8000 implements!
Among them: wooden cow bells, a bicycle with a knife sharpening stone rigged to it, cork screws by the hundreds, and shoemaker tools, all nice and neat and clean. Marco, the guide and owner, has been collecting these “things” for the past 40 years. And it certainly is a curious sort of collection! One man’s trash is another man’s gold.

Such an interesting collection. Can you explain how to find it?
Bravo. It’s good to hear from a reader!
Lee,the Museo Marco is in a little town just outside of Trento that can be reached by bus. I would go to the information office for directions. When you are there, ask about the urbin trecking.
I love stuff like this! How interesting – and it looks very well presented. Thanks!
Thanks, Michael – Trento is only 30 minutes by train from here in Bolzano/Bozen – I’m putting it on our to-do list for exploring this spring! Thanks for the post!
Peggy, there are more posts from me, a reader. Go to the archives and check out Torbole and the tenth Feb. 19th or Saint Apollonia Feb. 9th or Coir Pomi on Nov. 20th. More to come. My wife and I spend 2 months in the Fall in Trento and we do a lot of exploring in Trento and Bolzano and points in between. We usually ride in bici to Bolzano and train back.
Where is this place in the Trentino, Alto Adige? Any other information you ca give? We visit there often and will be returning in October, 2010. Thanks
Joan, it is located in Ravina, a small village just south west of Trento. Check with the tourist office in Trento for details.
