It is the small things that make Italy . . well, so Italian. When walking the back streets of the old town of Assisi, known for St. Francis and his love of animals, to see in a window, a quiet and yet watchful sentry!
The pride that the people take in their homes, their country, especially during football (soccer), the European Cup.
Lighting fixtures that reach back in time and yet still illuminate the darkness and spread light in Siena.
The small things to appreciate, often easy to miss when one is too busy and hurried to look. The common and the mundane are yet so uncommon and special, such as the solid wooden doors, each with their own special knocker, carrying a unique expression of the residents within.
Italy, found in the details!
