San Pietro at Dusk

September 10, 2008 / Local Interest
Rome

While walking along the nave to take in the length, width and heights of the building designed by Michelangelo (and Bramante and Raphael, among others) over 500 years ago is breath taking . .

And marveling at the expansiveness of the dome, filled with mosaics and light, is to be lifted beyond one’s self . . .

A simple glimpse of St. Peter’s basilica at dusk, so lightly illuminated, is a Roman treat not to be missed!
